Here I wanted to create a feeling like something was coming out the photograph through a piece of torn paper. The paper with a whole in it symbolizes the limits and constraints that people may put on photography. I believe there are no limits to what people can portray through photography and encourage people to keep trying new things.
very cool concept. it may have been better either scanning the paper at a really high resolution or using a larger tear just to keep the defined edges of the torn paper.

SO CREEPY!!!! In a good way, though. Kind of looks like he's crawling out of a grave or hell. Very nice collision of innocence and darkness. Love the work you did with shadows on the paper. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteI really like your interpretation of this photograph. I think the composition is really well done.
ReplyDeleteI love the concept. Using a scanner could have given you a more polished look, buts its still a very strong image.
ReplyDeleteI think your image is very interesting. I like that you copied the concept from the original photo. I think if the paper had a little more texture, it could have been more interesting, but overall, it's a great photo.
ReplyDeleteThis photograph is amazing. I love the texture of the photograph and how it looks like the boy is actually popping out of it.
ReplyDeletemaybe add some sort of context to the paper . . . it's just so bright and white! good edit though; id' say work with the colors and edges a bit.
ReplyDeleteCool perspective of the picture... I like the paper. Looking down the stairway is nice.. lighting at the end makes me wonder what else is down there. Good job!
ReplyDeletecreative way to bring images together and to attempt to recreate this image using analog + digital means. the image below the paper and kid seems interesting as well and i like that we get a glimpse of it through the paper. you might consider getting a shot of the kid with more light on his face and front of his body so that he looks more like he is coming out of the paper.
ReplyDeleteI like the oddness that this photo has. I am left with a sense of wondering where you were at and what was really going on.
ReplyDeleteI think you did a good job using photoshop with this image. In the smaller image I didnt see how much detail was in the 'basement'but when I enlarged it there was a lot of detail which was pretty cool. I think if you moved the child over the stairs it may appear as if he used the stairs to reach the paper,it could add more visual depth
ReplyDeleteAwesome!1 I can see the effort that you put for this recreation.!! I wish the baby look like more 2D.... just my opinion.. GOOD JOB!!
ReplyDeleteYou took a more comical approach to your recreation. I'm finding it hard to put in to words but its working...yeah, its working.
ReplyDeleteThis is why you don't turn your back on your children for a second; they will rip through images.
Lame joke...
